From Greenhouse to Redhouse: Development of a Novel Film to Promote Photosynthetic Activity and Crop Production

  • Research conducted Summer 2018 - 2020 as a Research Intern, Yin Lab at CU Boulder
  • Fabricated and characterized novel greenhouse film material improving crop photosynthetic rate by 38% by converting light from green to red by engineering novel dome-shaped light-extraction structures
  • Engineered radiative cooling bilayer paint with 7 W/m^2 increase in cooling power (0.5°C lower surface temperature) compared to commercial paints, with promise in reducing space cooling energy demand
  • Selected as one of the top 40 “best and brightest young scientists” in the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science competition, the Regeneron Science Talent Search, for “exceptional scientific leadership potential”
